Matchbox style Mini using BoBunny The Avenues Collection.

Having received my BoBunny Design Team package, was like Christmas in July!! I nearly knocked over the UPS man when he knocked on my door with the big box of happy mail!! Waiting for instructions for my first assignment was exciting. And then it came. Design using The Avenues Collection. My specialty is 12x12 layouts, but after looking at all of the wonderful  embellies in the collection, it screamed DO A MINI!!!! And so I was on a quest to find a darling mini to do. And then, I found it!! The creative instructor's name is Ginger Ropp, and she is My Sisters Scrapper on You Tube. Ginger creates the most wonderful mini's. The instructions I was inspired by came from her Vertical TP Mini Album Tutorial.
My measurements are all different as I used Paper towel rolls and I wanted my mini slightly larger, but the construction was the same. Thanks Ginger for the wonderful inspiration!! You rock my mini world!! Today is my first post as a BoBunny Design Team member on the BoBunny blog today!!

Here is the front of the mini.

This is a side view of the mini. I used 6 pieces of paper towel rolls for the pockets in the mini. Did you know that BoBunny makes gorgeous doilies in 3 different sizes?? I used the small 4 inch one for the top of the mini cover. Love them!!

This is a match book style mini. I created the tags to slip into the paper towel roll pockets. Using my ATG tape roller made adhering the paper to the rolls was a snap. I only used 3 12x12 pieces of The Avenues paper and 1 sheet of 12x12 Double Dots card stock to do the whole mini. I used heavy chip board to construct the outer cover.

Here is a closeup of one of the tags. For the tags, I just measured out rectangles from chipboard and free cut notches into the top, covered with the pattern paper, inked the edges and punched a hole through a folded over flower on the tops and added an eyelet. I left the backs plain for pictures or journaling.

Here are 3 of the 6 tags created. One for each pocket. I adhered a NoteWorthy card to each tag. I love the bird, birdcage, doily theme to some of the papers in the collection. And the colors are so yummy.

Lazy Dayzies...Tutorial for Scrap That Kit Club Guest Design Spot.

I haven't  done a flower tutorial in a while. I figured it was time!! I ordered a BUNCH of flower dies not to long ago, and are finally dipping into the stash and creating. Mixing and matching is a wonderful thing!! The possibilities are endless!!...

 Product List
Glue
Ink Blender
Ink of your choice
Kraft Paper
Card Stock color of your choice for flowers
Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower, Black-Eyed Susan
Stylus and pad set (I use McGill)
Art Glitter Good Earth. Elements Earth Textures or Flower soft
    Die-Namics die : Botanical Beauty

Cut one large and one small flower from your Sizzix die, Cut 2 of the medium size middles from your Die-Namic die.

Ink the edges of your flowers using the blending foam applicator for a soft look.

On the back side of your flowers, use the stylus on the pad press down using a circular motion on each petal until they curl upwards.

Do the same for the middles.

Now turn your flowers over right side up and you should see the texture you created for realistic flowers.
Using adhesive of your choice,  layer your flowers by placing the smaller one over the larger one staggering your petals. Then add your 2 middles also staggering the tiny petals.

Add some adhesive to the middle and sprinkle a generous amount of Elements or Flower Soft pressing down a bit to get the particles to sink into the glue. Tap off any excess.

Here is your finished Lazy Dayzie. You can add leaves underneath or cluster them together as I did in the photo below.
On a couple of these flowers, I added an extra (3rd layer) flower layer to make the flowers fuller. It is all a matter of taste and design. Look on my blog soon, for the finished layout I used these daisies on!!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. You can substitute any similar dies to achieve the same effect. I will continue to experiment with mixing and matching all of my wonderful dies!!. Till next time, Happy Flower making!

Getting Krafty, Walk through the daisies and a sketch challenge... Blue Fern Studios in the house!!!

Today is my turn to post over at Blue Fern Studios on their blog. But here I will go into detail about my 3 layouts.  The month of July, just came and went. So here we are at the peak of summer and I was feeling kind of Krafty again this week...So, Using Kraft paper once again, I decided to color it up a bit this time and adorn it with some fabulous heat embossed chip board!! It amazes me on how many ways you can use chip board. And how many ways you can adorn it.This next layout was inspired by my wonderful friend Heather Jacob . Just spreading my Blue Fern Studios love everywhere!!

This time I decided to use embossing medium and embossing powder on my chip board pieces. I heat embossed the chip board and then used a white color wash over the embossed pieces. I love the new fancy words that Blue Fern Studios is creating!! My biggest difficulty in creating pages is the title and journaling. These words make the best titles and make it so easy for me!!

Love, love the Bits Of Honey chip board. You get  6 pieces in the set. And I only used 1 for this one and snipped it apart to create 2 smaller pieces. That still leaves me 5 great pieces left in the package!!

Here is just another view of the page to show dimension. I put bits of pop dots under the Born To Be Wild chip board piece to lift it off of the page.

I added the other piece to the opposite side of the photo. My daughter is sweet as honey, with a wild streak in her.  These pieces were perfect for my layout!

For the beautiful leaves, I use a Sizzix embossing folder, then cut out the design. I rubbed some chalk ink lightly over the surface and white washed it with a little distress stains in Picket fence. I look for those embossing folders with designs that are easy to cut out. I love this one.

I used a mix of flowers. I used Prima and Petaloo flower because I wanted to put this layout together quickly. Making my own flowers although therapeutic for me, is time consuming. I do love making flowers though.

Just a view of the opposite corner using the same Sizzix design.

I often dream of old iron gates that have been aged and show there patina finish well. On this layout I aged the gate in a fine Patina using only embossing powder. And in a future post, I will show you how I did it with a tutorial.

I used 3 different embossing powders to create the color on the Tweet Friends piece. The little birds on the branch are just so sweet.

Here is a close up of the gate. I only used 1 side of the gate as I used the other one in another project.
You can see the fine faux Patina finish.

I heat embossed the Sunshine word with yellow. It shines in real life and looks like sunshine.

I created the daisies using one of Sizzix flower dies design by Susan Tierney and a die from Die-namics. I love combining my dies to make different flowers. On Monday I will post the tutorial for the flower.

I folded one layer of the flower in half and scrunched  them a little to create the bud. Then I just tucked them into the leaves.

Just another view of the page to show dimension.

I just love the fall colors. And my inspiration for the flowers were some Yellow Brown eyed Susan daisies I saw in the store.

This is my take on the sketch. You can visit the BFS Blog to see what some of the DT has created using the sketch as well.

Just a close up of the mix of flowers I used. I adore roses. There are so many shapes colors and sizes out there.

Here is another cluster of flowers. I die cut some CottageCutz leaf dies and mixed in some store bought leaves.

I fell in love with this recollections flower that came in a pack.

I love you browse Pinterest and Tumbler. Pinterest is where I found this photo of a sleeping angel.
I cropped and softened the pphoto in Photoshop to match the mood of my layout and match my papers.

The Peace word is from the Good Vibes Set.

Just another view of the sweet flowers on the page. The butterflies were from a file I shared with you in my last post.

Here is a full view of the Lattice Gate.I just painted the base with Gesso, and went over the cgip board with texture paste.
